Mosaic, the first online marketplace to offer investments in solar projects to the American public, will be opening up investments to university endowments today, in an announcement at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET.
This announcement will be made during “MoneyShift,” a live online discussion between Billy Parish (Mosaic’s Co-Founder and President), Bill McKibben (Founder of 350.org), and Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, (CEO of Green For All).
While there are over 320 student groups working with 350.org‘s Fossil Free campaign to get their university endowments divested from fossil fuels, there hasn’t been a clear path for reinvestment.
Mosaic is now offering “3 Steps To Get Your University Invested in Clean Energy,” including resources for students to make a financial case for clean energy to their endowment’s Chief Investment Officer. We are giving students a way to connect their CIOs with Greg Rosen, Mosaic’s Chief Investment Officer (former VP of Solar Finance at Union Bank and fund manager for Citi Bank, with fourteen years of solar finance experience).
Students’ excitement around the prospects of their universities re-investing in clean energy is already burgeoning. News of Billy Parish and Bill McKibbens’ discussion has already been re-posted on many student divestment groups’ sites, including the Claremont Colleges, Cornell University, Central Michigan University, Dartmouth College, RISD, Tulane University and Vanderbilt University. More universities including Yale and Vassar College are coming soon.
